Based on octa-core architecture, the Snapdragon 780G SoC is a successor to Snapdragon 768 and will target low-budget 5G smartphones. The German blog WinFuture believed that the new Qualcomm processor will power the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite. The phone is expected to debut on March 29 alongside Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G 5G Features
Following the traits of the current flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset, the new 780G also has a 5nm process node. It comes with eight-core CPUs comprising two ARM Cortex-A78 clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 clocked 1.8GHz speed. It supports LPDDR4 RAM. Samsung is said to manufacture the new Qualcomm chip. The good news is for gaming enthusiasts as the GPU will offer true 10-bit HDR resolution during the gameplay. Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G is the first 7-series processor to get the Spectra 570 image signal processor (ISP). The ISP allows clicking from three different cameras simultaneously. The chipset enables better photo quality in low light conditions and allows video recording in HDR 10+ and 4K HDR resolutions. The modem is supposed to reach download speeds up to 3Gbps on sub-6 GHz networks. Like the top-end Snapdragon 888, it also supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 6E as well, thanks to FastConnect 6900.
